About Sulabh Public School
Sulabh Public School (English Medium) was established in 1992 by the renowned Indian social scientist, Padma Bhushan Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak particularly for the rehabilitation and education for the children of the Valmiki families and the other downtrodden classes in the vicinity with the sole purpose of empowering the children of scavengers. This school is dedicated to the wards of those people who were involved in manual removal of night soil to keep the society clean, who became untouchables later on. To eradicate the evil of untouchability and to uplift the untouchable scavengers, this school was started with highly qualified, dedicated and experienced teachers. According to Hon'ble Founder of this school, "only education can eradicate all kinds of social prejudices, even untouchability from our society." This school is co-educational and is up to 10th standard, recognized by the government of NCT, Delhi and also affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. The overall administration of the school is run by a School Management Committee, a nominated body constituted by the authority. The Chairman, Manager, Head and other members of staff are always available for suggestions, constructive criticism and complaints. The education imparted here aims to prepare children from weaker section of society for life. All students are given fruits as mid-day meal. The teachers impart education and inculcate moral values without favoring any particular societal class or group. Role models include Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Ambedkar whose thoughts are the guiding spirit for the functioning of the school. Their principles are taught to the children. The School has a Managing Committee comprising of educational experts, nominees of the Directorate of the Education, Govt. of Delhi, parents / representatives of pupils and staff of Sulabh Public School. Attention is paid to the development and progress of the school as an instrument of social change.
