By The Sea Nursery school offers a rich, nurturing and experiential program for children from 2 1/2 years to 5 years of age. We at By The Sea are committed to developing and strengthening the children's self esteem and confidence through the cultivation of positive attitude, skills, interests and positive peer relations. We want to instill a love for understanding and learning in children. We let children teach themselves and try not to just feed them with information. This results in children who can think for themselves and seek further knowledge. Our Philosophy Children love to come to By The Sea. We prioritize children's social and emotional well being. We encourage curiosity and a need to explore. This encourages the children to take risks, face challenges and maintain a positive attitude. We want our children to feel confident and self-motivated. The school’s environment helps them to be perceptive and aware of others and their needs. We also make them feel responsible to their natural environment. The learning materials and activities are designed to enable each child to explore the material as per their readiness and age appropriateness. This makes learning enjoyable and promotes the child’s uniqueness and positive self-worth. This approach ensures their all-round development- physical, social, emotional, spiritual and intellectual. Our teachers facilitate, prioritize and celebrate each child’s unique way of learning. We believe that the aim of education should include all the above so that it is internalized and becomes a way of life. Educational Processes A combination of experimental learning and thematic approach. A project topic is decided on and then math, language and EVS are integrated into it. Activities such as art, craft, singing etc. are then also interwoven into the topic. Field trips and dramatization make it a personal experience for the students. A lot of importance is given to the board display and children’s representation of the topic. All learning experiences follow the sequence of concrete, semi-concrete and abstract. It also follows known to unknown; simple to difficult. Syllabus is designed as per stage / age appropriateness.
