In these years that have gone by, the School endeavored kindling a fire in the young minds of its pupils, preparing them for a world of tomorrow, full of challenges, so that in the words of Plato ‘they may be better able to discover with accuracy the peculiar bent of the genius of each.’ The School follows the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) up to the tenth grade and the Indian School Certificate (ISC) for the eleventh and twelfth grades. The School encourages the pupils to inculcate the two qualities which symbolize the Scottish character, achieving success by means of honest and strenuous effort and placing complete faith in God. The School pays special attention to needs of students with learning difficulties through sustained attention provided by specially trained staff. The student body of 3300 boys and girls is divided into four Houses viz Yellow House, Green House, Red House and Blue House. The boys’ houses Haddow, Kennedy, MacPherson and MacGregor are named after Scottish missionaries who were closely associated with the Orphanage; The girls’ houses are named after the Scottish queens Anne, Victoria, Catherine and Elizabeth. A variety of activities are offered as an integral part of the curriculum to provide each student an opportunity to develop a wholesome personality. Inter House; Intra Class competitions ensure the students imbibe a healthy, competitive spirit and loyalty to their respective houses or classes. Debates, dramatics, choral singing, elocution, math wizard, Spelling Bee, creative writing and team games like football, cricket, basket ball and throw ball are some of the activities that students can participate in. Clubs and programmes like the International Award for Young People, Dabchick Club, the Interact Club, the Adventure Club, the UNESCO Club, the Girl Guide Company, the Numismatics Club, Literary Club , the School Choir are available to the students to nurture their love for nature, adventure, and to serve the less fortunate. For students who wish to study subjects at a higher level and earn credits in universities worldwide, the school offers the Advanced Placement Programme affiliated to the College Board in the U.S.A. from the year 2013 onwards. The school has state-of-the–art laboratories for physics, chemistry and biology. Apart from two main libraries, each classroom is provided with a separate library. Three computer laboratories facilitate training the students in IT. Interactive boards linked to the school’s server are provided in the classrooms. These interactive boards help the students understand the concepts through video clippings, 3D diagrams and simulated experiments. Animated pictorial representation helps the teachers to explain with ease difficult concepts to the students. Many of the alumni have made remarkable contribution to the society as industrialists, doctors, lawyers, actors, writers and entrepreneurs.
