The pituitary gland is the most important, because it produces hormones that control most of the other endocrine glands. Height is controlled by a growth hormone produced by the pituitary gland. Too much can make a person very tall, and too little can stunt their growth. On the whole, however, most people reach the same sort of  height as their parents and grandparents.
