Gonadotropins, i.e. LH and FSH levels increases gradually during the follicular phase and secretory phase respectively FSH stimulate follicular development and secretion  of oestrogens by the growing follicles, while LH stimulates the corpus luteum to secrete progesterone.Both LH and FSH attain a peak level in the middle of cycle, i.e. about  14th day of menstrual cycle.
